Tyler Florence’s New Cookbook

I took a quick look through this cookbook yesterday.  It looks very interesting!  Tyler is one of my favorite Food Network chefs.  Many of the recipes I’ve used from the site are from his shows.

At first glance, it looks like this book has lots of educational pages as well as recipes.  It looks like he shows the steps to accomplish certain techniques.

I’m going to take a closer look at it in the next few days but for those of you who live near a Costco, I’d start looking for it now!

And, yes I know that I don’t really need another cookbook, but I’m just going to admit right now that I have an addiction.  And that admission is not the first step to recovery as I have no intention of recovering! :-)

I confess. I am also a cookbookaholic. I read your comment about writing Tyler regarding a Food 911 emergency. I don\’t know if you know this, but I was lucky enough to be selected to do a show with him a few years ago where he helped me cook doughnuts (Dandy Doughnuts). It was the first of the 2001 series. Of note, the intro for all his shows that year featured him chopping vegetables in my kitchen (Brick background). I have his first cookbook and for sure will buy this one.

Sylvie you are my hero! Can I get your autograph?? :-) Although I only starting watching in the last couple years I\’m sure I\’ve seen the show since they play forever. In fact, I just looked up that episode and the last time it aired was on my birthday last year! That\’s a weird little coincidence. You need to blog about it! Make the donuts again and talk about the show. Was it fun? Is Tyler as nice (and as cute!) as he seems? Did it take hours? How does it all work? The public wants to know! I\’m very jealous… ~ B

I was waiting for it to air again so my blog would be a lead into it. The experience was fantastic. I enjoyed the whole process and especially cooking with Tyler. He is as nice and real (down to earth) as he appears on the show. He is the touchy, feely type and that is welcome when you\’re as cute as he is. During our lunch break, he sat down and ate with the crew and me. You can\’t tell from the show, but there is a script we follow, though what is said is pretty much ad lib. We had lots of breaks and retakes. Took all day to film. Then it took about 4 months before it first aired. There is no reimbursement, gifts or anything for doing the show. Just fond memories and 30 minutes of fame.I can go into more detail when I write about it. They gave me a VHS tape copy of the show. I am also trying to figure out how to record from VHS on to my digital video camera so I can take stills from it to post.
