Well Fed Network
A few days ago I gave you a sneak peek of a new project I’m working on, The Spirit World. What I didn’t really tell you at the time, was that this new blog is part of an entire blog network. Today marked our official release and we’ve started with five blogs:
- Well Fed Network: Gives you a peak into the entire network of blogs
- The Spirit World: Focused on spirits, cocktails, beers and all related topics
- Sugar Savvy: Interested in chocolate and candy? This is the place for you!
- Growers and Grocers: Exploring the food industry
- Paper Palate: Covering news from food magazines and newspaper sections around the world.
While we are starting with just these five blogs, eventually the network will encompass about 40 blogs focusing on food topics or on cities around the world.
I will be editing and writing for The Spirit World and, occasionally, contributing to the other blogs. I have a great set of people working with me on The Spirit World! Most of them have other blogs of their own but we also have a few new talents. Most are up and running but a few more will be coming on over the next few weeks. To find out more about who’s there, check out the list of Contributors.
We plan to have four weekly columns and a variety of other posts we hope will be of interest to you. Our weekly columns are:
- Monday: Mixology 101
- Tuesday: Brewsday
- Wednesday: Drinks Around the World
- Thursday: Happy Hour at Home
Other categories of posts that will be showing up include; Mixology References; Tools of the Trade; Tips and Tricks; Cooking with Spirits; and Tasting Notes, among others. Our goal is to educate and inform while entertaining you! We’d like to become one of your primary Mixology destinations.
Please stop by and check out the new site. Leave a comment or two or three! Tell us what you’d like to see covered or ask us questions. Try our recommendations and let us know if you agree or why you don’t. We’d really like to hear from you!

Very interesting…..and quite a project! I definitely think there\’s a need for content like this.I missed not reading your blog while on holidays. I made the mistake of reading this before lunch and your recipes and photos just about killed me. Cheers,BH
Hey – sorry for the repeat post, but I have a favor to ask on a drink recipe. Do you know the ingredients and process for making a Spanish Coffee "Portland Style"?Let me know……..
Hi BH! Nice to have you back in town – hope you had a good holiday. I\’ll be checking your blog to find out the details! :-) I\’ll get back to you on the Spanish Coffee question. I have an idea of what your are talking about. There used to be a restaurant in Portland that was famous for their Spanish Coffees – the name is escaping me at the moment but will come to me and once I remember the name I think I can find the recipe. I am slammed today but should be able to get back to it tonight. ~ B
BH:Here\’s part of the answer… the restaraunt is Huber\’s – that came to me while crossing the 520 this morning. I had plenty of time to think with traffic as it was! Their big deal was that they poured flaming 151 into the glass. Here\’s an article that talks about it http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/1996/08/26/tidbits.html and the ingredients but not the proportions. This is very timely as I was going to write about Spanish coffee for The Spirit World for today\’s Happy Hour at Home but wanted to do a bit of research first! I\’ll see if I can find the exact recipe but at least the article is a start…. ~ B
