Pepper Update
The Thai Dragons are the most prolific! The bush is covered with peppers and some small ones have already turned red. They can actually be used when they are red or green. I’m going to have to start picking and drying them soon – there is no way I can consume all this plant will produce. It was the same with a Cayenne Pepper plant I had last year.
The Anaheim Peppers are lagging just a bit behind, although in the last few days they’ve had a growth spurt. I think they really need hot weather to get them going. They actually budded and started growing about the same time as the Banana Peppers but are just taking their time getting large enough to use.

Oh man…you\’re my hero!Remember those 17 basil plants that I told you about a few months ago? All on death\’s doorstep. If there\’s such thing as a "thumb transplant," I\’d sure like to swap your green one for my Agent Orange one.Sal
I\’m so jealous! I\’m still dreaming about those amazing banana peppers you put in that incredible salad. I\’ve convinced my mom to grow some for me in her yard… where did you get yours from?
Sal:Basil is actually a little hard to grow. You pretty much need to water it every day and even one miss on a warm day can sink it. And if the temp drops below 50F (what is that like 10C?) that will really affect it, too. It\’s very tempermental. I\’m sorry yours are all fried though. :-( I\’m lucky in that I come from a long line of gardeners so between just inheriting the "green" thumb and having seen gardening in action for so many years I can pretty much figure anything out. My main challenge now is I don\’t have that much room so you\’ll notice the peppers are in pots not in the ground but that seems to work okay! And throughout my "flower" beds there are little edibles popping up here and there. :-) Megan:I\’m so bummed that I forgot to load you up with herbs the other night! :-( I\’ll have to make sure I bring a big bagful on the 13th. I get a lot of my plants from Swansons Nursery because they always have so many varieties of everything. They are a little spendy there but sometimes it\’s worth it. I\’m sure yours will do great at your mom\’s place! ~ B
