From Chicken to Table

While driving around San Juan Island I came across a sign for "Eggs". The sign over the entrance told me this was "Animal Farm" and another warned me to beware of the guard pig! I made my way to the parking area in the back across from a dog kennel. A woman was exercising two adorable puppies! Both just 4 rambunctious months old, a boxer and golden retriever were busy wrestling and running and tumbling but both ran to the fence surrounding the exercise area to greet me! I love little puppy licks! :-)

Just beyond the puppies were the chickens, wandering around in a large enclosed area. I also saw a llama and a few goats but no guard pig – dang it! :-) I purchased a dozen eggs and then tucked my treasures into my cooler – plenty of room since it was devoid of shellfish! This morning, two of them made their way onto my breakfast plate. Yum!
